"When I think of the fact that 'Asterix' was translated into 72 languages and I only speak a single one, I really get complexes."
Albert Uderzo (*1927)
„And all knowledge is vain save when there is work, and all work is empty save when there is love.”
(Khalil Gibran)
This quotation of the Lebanese poet hits the nail on the head. I love my profession which is my vocation at the same time. As a translator I dive into the world of languages, no matter if a technical documentation or an advertising text is concerned, I translate the text as authentic as possible. Language is alive – and in between all these letters, syllables, words, and sentences is a lot more being communicated than one would think.
At the moment I offer translations for English and French.
I usually translate from either one into my native language German but I also translate into French and English.
Please feel free to mail me your text and I will send you a non-binding offer. Prices vary according to topic, volume, research, and language.
Furthermore, I plan on offering a language course, which will be based on the Birkenbihl-Method (more details).
Texts from the fields commercial, software, online presentation, food technology, commerce, law, and pedagogy.
Main events of my current career:
One main aspect of my philosophy is that I only translate texts that I understand. You might think that this is self-evident - but unfortunately it is not in this business. At the same time, this demand is a quality feature of my work and every client can be sure that I do understand the text that I translate.
Another crucial aspect and demand of my work is the pursuit of a holistic translation - that is actually how this website received its name. Translation does not 'only' mean to transfer content from one language to another but must also consider different things such as culture and language conventions among others. That is why I am striving for a holistic end version of the text. In the best case, a non-translator should describe the text as complete.
A lot of times you hear the expression 'This feels good' - and that is what I'd like to say about my translations.
I also regularly explore new topics as I am a very curious and eager for knowledge. I just love to explore new fields. In addition to the texts I currently translate, I would like to add the translation of non-fiction books.
As I am engaged in spiritual topics as well as the combination of science and spirituality, I am very interested in this genre. And fact is: The more knowledge you gain in one specific field, the better and holistic the translated text will be. In September 2008 I became a Reiki-Master (system of Miako Usui), and I continuously expand my knowledge in this area.
During my studies I also worked as a language teacher. Therefore I am also concerned with how to learn a language. I monitored the development in this area during the last years and I have been testing the method of Mrs Vera F. Birkenbihl who shows how you can learn a language in a brain-appropriate way. At the same time, the cliché the one must be talented to learn a foreign language is being reversed. I have been learning languages with this method and I was surprised how much fun it is to use this method. Even exotic languages like Japanese, Arab or Chinese can be accessed easily with the Birkenbihl-Method. That is why I want to offer a language course based on this method in the future.
